Chartering and insurance enrollment for the 2026 season is officially open through the Little League® Data Center. As a reminder the Little League Data Center is the exclusive location for local leagues to join the program by enrolling their teams and choosing whether to enroll in the various insurance offerings available exclusively to affiliated Little League programs.

New League? Learn How to Charter For the First Time
NOTE: Only League Presidents, Vice Presidents, Treasurers, and Secretaries can complete the chartering and insurance enrollment process.
Once you are logged into the Little League Data Center take a few minutes to complete the following preseason to-dos:
- Confirm and update your league’s board and officer information following your annual meeting
- Update and confirm your league information, including your league website, and field location
Insurance Options: When chartering for 2026, please be sure to carefully review the insurance options available before making coverage selections for your league. As a reminder, Accident and General Liability Insurance coverage is mandatory for players on all league rosters as well as managers, coaches, and volunteer umpires. To ensure there is no gap in coverage between policy years, each league’s insurance premium is to be paid in full by December 31, 2025.
Little League® International continues to negotiate with insurance providers to enhance coverage, while striving to make these options affordable for local leagues. While leagues may see a slight increase in the insurance costs, some highlights for the 2026 Group Insurance Program for Little League include an increase in Accident Medial Expense maximum limit/claim from $100,000 to $250,000; enhanced coverage to include sub-limit for loss sustained from Fraudulent Impersonation claims, and more. To learn more about the Group Insurance Program, visit LittleLeague.org/Insurance.
State Tax Exemption (New): During the Chartering and Insurance Enrollment process, leagues that have a State Tax Exemption certificate may upload their form for Little League International to review and approve in order to have sales tax not charged on applicable purchases on ShopLittleLeague.org. Purchases must be made by the League President or District Administrator when using the same email address they use for the Data Center. Leagues will be prompted during the Chartering and Insurance Enrollment process to review and upload their form, or leagues and districts can manage their state sales tax exemption certificates at any time via the Manage Financials link on the Data Center home screen. Please note that a league’s state tax exemption certificate must be submitted and approved prior to purchasing through ShopLittleLeague.org to receive appropriate exemptions. Please note that sales tax laws vary by state and this is separate and distinct from your Federal Tax Exemption . To learn more about your State Tax information, please visit IRS.gov
Background Checks: Annual background checks reset for the 2026 season on October 1, so ensure that all your league’s volunteers are conducting their background checks and completing the Abuse Awareness Training for 2026. All background checks must be completed through JDP and the Abuse Awareness Training must be completed at LittleLeague.org/AbuseAwareness. Completion of either of these through any other provider will not be permitted.
Team Numbers: You can update your team numbers throughout your planning and preparation for the 2026 season, based on the outcome of your player recruitment, what divisions you choose to offer, and how your season takes shape.
