Little League® Video Storytelling Wins Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award

September 22, 2025

Little League® has received a 2025 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Award, as presented by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, for its human-interest short form piece titled, “Why #11 Holds a Special Meaning to All Little Leaguers®.”

On September 11, 2001, at just 22 years old, Michael Cammarata ran into the World Trade Center as a sworn-in New York firefighter, saving countless lives before he was reported missing. A decade before the date of the attack, Cammarata wore No. 11 while playing right field in the 1991 Little League Baseball World Series as a South Shore (N.Y) Little Leaguer, coincidentally listing his name as “Cammarata 9/11” in the scorebook for his position and number.

Produced in coordination with 20/20 Visual Media, “Why #11 Holds a Special Meaning to All Little Leaguers,” dives into why No. 11 is the only number retired at the Little League Baseball® World Series, as well as the East Region, and why it means so much to Little Leaguers across the world, including 2024 LLBWS Mid-Atlantic Region participant, Tyler Neeld, his father, and great-grandfather.

Receiving the Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy on behalf of the Little League production team: Hannah Heitsenrether, Dallas Miller, Kevin Fountain, Brian McClintock, and Ryan Osadchy.

In addition to Little League International’s win, WVIA received a Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy for its production of the 2024 Little League Challenger Exhibition Game, Presented by Eggland’s Best, in the Human Interest – Long Form category. Since 2001, the Little League Challenger Exhibition Game has been a memorable part of the Championship Weekend experience at the Little League Baseball World Series. In 2024, teams from Manalapan, New Jersey, and Mission Viejo, California, made the trip to Williamsport, making lifelong memories and receiving $15,000 grants from both Little League and Eggland’s Best, the Official Egg of Little League Baseball and Softball, who serves as the Presenting Sponsor of both the annual Challenger Exhibition Game and the WVIA broadcast of the event.

This is the second Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy win for Little League, with the first in 2023 in the category Sports – Short Form Content (Single Story) for its video titled, “LLWS: Josiah Porter.” The awards recognize incredible achievements in the television and digital media industry in the Chapter’s designated award region, which includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Wheeling, West Virginia, and Steubenville, Ohio.
